01Our commitment
Accessibility is treated as a design requirement for AvailGolf, not an adjustment made afterwards. It constrains how the site looks rather than the other way round: contrast minimums, target sizes, visible focus and readable type are decided before a page is designed, and a design that cannot meet them is changed.
We aim to meet WCAG 2.2 Level AA. We have not yet completed the testing needed to claim that we meet it, so this statement describes what has actually been checked rather than what we intend.
02What has been tested
The following has been verified in a browser on the built pages:
- Text contrast measured against the colours as rendered. The lowest ratio found on any visible text is 4.9:1, above the 4.5:1 minimum for normal text.
- The pages reflow at 320px wide without horizontal scrolling.
- Interactive controls other than radio buttons and checkboxes are at least 44px high; primary actions are 48px.
- Every interactive element takes a visible focus ring of 2px at a 2px offset, and focus is never suppressed for pointer users.
- Form validation runs on submit, reports problems in words rather than by colour alone, moves focus to an error summary, and links each message to the field it belongs to.
- The accordion and the navigation panel use real buttons with correct aria-expanded state, and the accordion marker changes character rather than rotating.
- Typefaces are self-hosted and confirmed loading, so text does not fall back to a system font.
- With the reduced-motion preference enabled, all movement is removed and nothing on the site depends on motion to be understood.
03What has not yet been tested
We are not claiming conformance, because the following remain outstanding:
- Testing with screen readers on real devices.
- Sign-off on physical mobile hardware rather than an emulated viewport.
- A full keyboard-only walkthrough of every page and form path.
- Verification at 200% zoom across all pages.
- An independent accessibility audit.
This statement will be updated as each of these is completed, and the summary above will change to reflect what has actually been found.
04Known issues
- Radio buttons and checkboxes are 20 to 22px. They sit inside labels that are at least 44px high and fully clickable, and they are spaced far enough apart to meet the WCAG 2.2 spacing exception, but the control itself is smaller than 24px.
- Some photography on the site is AI-generated. This is described on our AI transparency page.
05Reporting a problem
If something on this site stops you doing what you came to do, please tell us. Email hello@availgolf.com and describe what you were trying to do, what happened, and the browser or assistive technology you were using. We read everything that arrives and will reply within two working days.
If you would rather not use the website at all, the same address reaches us, and we can take a trial application or an enquiry by email instead.
